     i. Introduction

The lower stalls, for the seating of the beneficiaries (those clerics not belonging to the chapter of the cathedral) number 23 on each side. Each of the lower stalls is decorated with a relief of one of the martyred saints of Córdoba. The backs of the lower stalls form book rests for the use of those seated in the upper stalls.
